EMDR Therapy Practicum & Case Consultation

*Talking about cases is great but sometimes you want to have an experiential way to figure out the language

PART I: PRACTICUM DETAILS

Clinicians will have an opportunity to practice as both therapist and client, for a total of 90 minutes. Both will debrief with a CIT for 10 minutes prior to switching roles. Following the practicum, all clinicians will meet in the Main Zoom Call room and will transition to the group consultation portion. Participating clinicians choosing to receive hours towards certification will receive 1.5 hours (90 minutes of case consultation). Benefits of this hybrid event will allow for multiple points of view and experiences from various consultants in training, as well as your peers.

  • Role-play your tough cases and get live feedback on how to navigate with mechanics, cognitive interweaves, parts work (if trained), and additional ways to figure out:
  • What else do I say or do besides “Go with that?”
  • What do I say when client does this or says this? What if they go to a different memory? What if they dissociate? What if they talk about wanting to self-harm or have suicidal thoughts?”

PART II: GROUP CONSULTATION DETAILS

In order to best meet the needs of the group, group consultation for certification will be a maximum of 8 participants. Practicum group may be larger than 8 participants, depending on their preference for attending group consultation. To secure your spot, please complete this form and pay the rate of $125 before the scheduled date. If for any reason you are unable to attend the group, please let me know at least 48 hours ahead of time so that a participant on the waiting list could take your spot.

*Time subject to change in the event total participants exceed group parameters

She has published in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research in her article, Reducing the Cost of Trauma: Indirect Trauma Exposure on Mental Health Providers (Torres et al., 2022). Her dissertation seeks to evaluate how the Early Trauma Approach to EMDR therapy is an effective treatment for CPTSD. As a proponent for parts work, she is level 1 trained in IFS and incorporates parts work and EMDR therapy in the intensive model. Integrating empirical evidence to support the theoretical underpinnings of CPTSD has assisted her in providing theory and empirically driven methods to inform effective clinical treatment and increase clients’ functional capacities.
